17. Leipziger Hörspielsommer im Richard-Wagner-Hain Leipzig

What is the Leipziger Hörspielsommer?

The “Leipziger Hörspielsommer” is the biggest festival for audio drama in Germany. It´s organized by the association Hörspielsommer e. V. Since 2003 several thousand visitors enjoy this annual open-air event, located in one of Leipzig’s beautiful city parks.

About 60 productions are presented during the five-day festival – admission free! To please all ears we offer a program for children and teenagers in the afternoon, and an evening program for adults. Live-performances like readings, shows and live-audio dramas are introduced to the audience on the weekends to give new perspectives on the artistic interpretation of audio dramas. The full schedule will be availabl under www.hoerspielsommer.de shortly before the festivals begins.

In order to put a spotlight on aspiring authors and producers the Leipziger Hörspielsommer hosts several competitions for audio drama productions and audio drama manuscriptes.

The 22. International Audio Drama and Sound Art Competition will be held for the 22nd time in 2024. Young artists – directors, speakers, writers – are welcome to hand in their finished productions (Audio Dramas, Features, Soundcollages) in German or English up to a length of 45 min.

Friends of the quick listening pleasures can submit productions up to a length of 3 min. to 5th Short Audio Drama Competition.

Authors of Audio Drama manuscriptes can submit their text to Hörspielmanuskriptwettbewerb. The prefered language for the texts is German.
